The Pennsylvania Regional Training Center recently sent 4 athletes to partake in the USA Wrestling National Team Camp.  This 10-day camp ran from January 4 through the 14th in Colorado Springs, at the Olympic Training Center. There, they were able to grapple with the best wrestlers from around the country to prepare themselves for upcoming international action. The wrestlers had this to say about camp:

“Having the opportunity to train with and learn from some of the best wrestlers and coaches in the world is a huge blessing. Being challenged everyday out here provides a great opportunity for growth and improvement”

-Dan Vallimont

“National team camp is a great opportunity to challenge your skills against the best wrestlers in our country. It provides me with the ability to see several different styles of wrestling from other wrestlers and sharpen my skills.”

-Chase Pami

Having the opportunity to train for 10 days at the national team camp with some of the best in the world is a blessing. I don’t think there is a better way to prepare for our up coming tournament the Paris Grand Prix. This camp will allow us to really make strides and challenge ourselves physically and mentally in preparation for a big year!

-Richard Perry

“I really like the way the training camp ran. Coach Zadick has done a great job in identifying the freestyle positions that I need to improve upon especially when wrestling foreign competition.”

-B.J. Futrell

This weekend all 4 wrestlers will be leaving for France to compete in the Paris Grand Prix from January 22-30. This tournament provides an excellent opportunity for PRTC members to get a feel for foreign competitors and international competition. All of the team members feel prepped and ready to go:

“I am very excited to compete in Paris at the end of the month with coach Slay and my PRTC teammates it will be great to see how much we have all improved and developed over the past few months as we get to step on the mat against foreign competition for the first time in 2017.”

-Dan Vallimont

“I am excited to compete against tough competition in France. I want to push myself in training and see where I amongst some of the very best in the world “

-Chase Pami

“We are looking to start 2017 off strong and to make a statement. Paris will be our first international trip as a team. It’s also a great opportunity to compete in Paris because Paris is where the 2017 world championships are being held.”

-Richard Perry

“I’m really looking forward to wrestling in Paris. Knowing that the World Championships will also be there this year gives an added incentive to take in as much as we can from the experience in preparation for big dance.”

-B.J. Futrell
